Kristen graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 2014. She is currently a grad student at Colorado State University pursuing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. Her research is focused on studying the cellular mechanisms of breast cancer tumors and how currently approved cancer drugs can individually and in combination block these cellular mechanisms.
She has several years of experience tutoring both undergraduates and high school students in math and basic science courses. Over her three years of tutoring at Notre Dame, she tutored calculus I, calculus II, general chemistry, and biochemistry as a private tutor, with small groups of 2-4 students, and with larger groups of up to 15 students at a time. She also tutored high school students in pre-calculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Chemistry. Since joining BuffTutor in August 2015, she has worked with many students from middle school through college in various math and science courses. She likes to focus on understanding a problem from the ground up because she believes the best way to remember concepts is to start with the fundamentals. She stimulates critical thinking and helps students become independent problem solvers.

Course: College Algebra (MATH 117) Satisfactory Performance

Kristen was nothing short of fantastic. She was very patient with me, and was able to catch even the smallest of my mistakes. She knew what the course work was trying to get me to do, and showed me how to do it properly without extraneous detail. She is also tremendously friendly, and just a great person in general.
